By The People

There are fundamental flaws in how American government operates today,
contrary to the Constitution and the vision of a representative republican form of governance.
I intend doing something about it: by educating and informing others who
are not even aware of the dangers.

Where Do We Go From Here?

Since 2008 I have been writing articles and sharing articles from other authors with the Esteemed Readers of Fix America. Over those years I  have also shared these posts on forums and within comments of news articles, published by the privately-owned major media and other media outlets of lesser fame.

Most of what I see, hear, and read today is a far cry from news correspondence of a free and impartial press. Instead we are bombarded with the analysis and commentary of others, who, have no more right to voice their opinions than anyone else. The problem is, that what we expect to be unadulterated reporting of current events is instead spin and propaganda, not news, based on the particular ideology of the publisher or their political handlers and their sponsors.

Over the span of the past six or so years, Fix American has informed and educated the Esteemed Readers with facts, and while my opinions and those of other authors are offered, the facts are presented in whole without embellishment.

In an attempt to stifle the views of opposition, Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) has so much as said that anyone with a cellphone and blog does not constitute a reporter, and she wants to stop anyone without 'proper credentials' from reporting news. In other words, if you don't plan on reporting what the government approves, you will be silenced. So now approval by the government is prerequisite for someone to obtain a press pass or even to work for the media as a reporter.

It is by the consent of the governed that governments exists in the first place. It is We the People who created a constitutional representative republican form of self-governance, by which the People and the States remain sovereign and the federal system of governance is the servant and not the master. When did that change, 1871?  You will find most of the answers in the posts that Fix America has published. What you will not find is how and why it happened. For that answer you will have to look for future articles.

If the People are to be free to live their lives as they so choose, they must be willing to do whatever it takes to defend that freedom. To enjoy the fruits of one's labor, to own property, to be safe in their lands and homes, these are what we must all defend for ourselves as individuals, and collectively as communities. We must also be willing to defend our State if need arises to do so.

It is apparent that we can no longer trust those who we elect, members of the corporate UNITED STATES, to protect our rights and secure our borders. It is therefore incumbent upon We the People to defend ourselves and our neighbors from this attack on our unalienable rights.

Without digressing into the intricate details that led to the revolt against Great Britain, it is obvious that the collective reasons were enough to risk everything to gain sovereignty and be free of servitude.

Our rights have been taken and replaced with privileges, granted by the corporate UNITED STATES. Our freedoms are no longer a foregone conclusion as more and more infringements by militarized law enforcement agencies disregard even basic individual rights all over the nation. While focus is held to one or two incidents that are used as propaganda by the privately-owned major media to reinforce the justification for more laws that take away more individual rights, police forces are treating the People as enemies of the STATE and use deadly force against the most benign of our fellow citizens.

What can we do? How much abuse will We the People tolerate before taking action?

Where do we go from here?

In Denial: The Wrong Message

The truths in the election results are not being told by the privately-owned major media. None of them are. There is a huge Republican Party victory by candidates of the conservative movement in many States, but here in Oregon it is progressive socialism still sailing on albeit on rough seas. Evidently there are more people in the metropolitan areas that want a government nanny instead of being responsible for themselves. The problem is they don't consider that those who are being responsible are being punished by the nanny-state politicians who are once again elected by the 'Gimmes'.

The results of the national mid-terms indicate that most Americans are fed up with what is happening in Washington, D.C., a District of Criminals. The total disregard for the sea of messages the People have sent is typical of the level of self-importance exhibited by the person occupying the White House.  While his own party is jumping Ship of State, he continues to believe his shipload of policies will sail on calm seas. And if they don't, like hardtack, he will shove them down the throats of Americans whether we like it or not.

First there is the fact that this turn in events will not go into effect until after the newly elected officials are sworn in next year. Obama has promised to take executive action if the current Congress won't give him what he wants. He has threatened so much and disregards the messages the election sent to Washington.

There are some places who either remained liberal or elected a few Democrats because of opposition to legislation the People wanted, but the Governor or Assembly refused to pass.

Pennsylvania's current Republican Governor lost as he had opposed a medical marijuana bill and promised to veto it. The Governor elect will sign it when it passes both State Houses.

Here in Oregon, the Republican challenger lost to the incumbent Democrat who also like the person who occasionally visits the Oval Office between golf and basketball games, and fundraising, Dr. Kitzhaber has also used his position for alleged personal and political gain, and for the profit of his mistress and political favors for his supporters. There are allegations of other improprieties however no investigations have been initiated or undertaken.  Just like the person occupying the White House has managed to avoid prosecution with an entourage of spin doctors deflecting the public's attention onto phony issues like the war on women. Even the race card didn't trump the natural cards:  Mia Love in Utah and Tim Scott in South Carolina. A woman and both African-American Republicans. I'll bet that has Debbie Wasserman-Schultz seething.

There were many victories that were based on the candidates constitutional doctrines. There were a few because of the opposition's view that was not aligned with the voters. But by and large, the message sent by the results is plain and simple:  STOP OBAMA!

What I Learned Today: Or Elected Servants Think They Are Masters

UPDATE!

See below!
I was unable to sleep after attending a meeting of the Corvallis City Council. Something was bothering me and I could not fall asleep. And then it hit me!

I listened to a small group of people who had very little or no direct contact with arms tell the Mayor and City Council why they needed to pass an unconstitutional ordinance to prohibit the open carrying of loaded arms within the city limits. All kinds of figures and percentages about gun violence were offered as testimony, while opposition spoke of rights and Constitution, and lawsuits if this ordinance passes a council vote.

So I finally decided that I would take my allocated three minutes to speak. I am sure that I didn't make many friends on the Corvallis City Council. I told them that what they were proposing was a violation of my rights and that I would not obey such a law, in fact, there would be people from all over Oregon who will come and open carry in defiance of this ordinance. I said that the Constitution is not the source of my rights rather it is the duties and responsibilities and limitations placed on the federal government as well as that of the States. It explicitly states that, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." The Bill of Rights limits all levels of government not just the federal government. The People's rights are paramount.

But it wasn't until the early hours of the morning that it finally became clear. Here were a group of people who were elected by a majority of the people of Corvallis to serve their best interests, who were willing to break the law (Constitution) to pass a law (ordinance) to please a small group of "concerned" citizens who claim that seeing people carry loaded weapons made them afraid and added undo stress in their lives.

Imagine that! City Council thought that fear and stress were adequate justification to infringe on the rights of the majority to appease a special interest minority. I reminded them about a little skirmish that occurred with the British Crown when they came to confiscate weapons from the colonists.

Today is Election Day and I urge the Esteemed Readers to go out and vote. Go out and vote for the people who will protect your rights and not cater to special interests by taking from you what is rightfully yours.

If We the People stand up and rescind out consent of the form of governance that has evolved from that which was created, we can restore the system to what it was once meant to be.

UPDATE:

The Corvallis City Council has decided to drop the open carry ban ordinance. It seems that the State is taking up some new gun control legislation and focus on that is required at this time.

Actually it is time that we put these public servants into their proper place. The rights of the People MUST be protected by the servants in government, not usurped because of social pressures. Freedom loving Americans must unite in common defense of our rights and freedoms.
