Taxation For Representation

Every now and then, there are posts that I run across from ordinary people like you and me, that are so well articulated that I feel compelled to share them with my readers. This is one of them.

By Larry Gillreath

In the United States Constitution, as written in the 18th century, the only sources of revenue were:

1. A Capitation Tax

2. Tariffs on imported products.

The first was a per person tax levied on the States, based on the most recent decennial population figures. In fact, that was one of the two reasons for the census, the other being to determine the allocation of the number of each State's representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives (not so Big Brother could find out how many flush toilets we have, or how long it takes to commute to work each day!). The second was to raise revenue for those necessary, and limited, functions of the federal government from goods and products imported into these United States of America.

The thing is, the Union worked very well, as it was designed to do, and without any sort of income tax, of any description. Of course, that was back in the day when the federal government respected the Constitution, and did not intrude into those powers reserved for the States, local governments, and the People.

There is one political party that I have discovered that advocates returning to the original system described above! It is the American Citizen Party, whose founder, Bob McNeil of Houston TX, is an announced candidate for the Presidency in 2016. Their website is americancitizenparty.us Check it out, it will be worthwhile!

While I do not support parties because they represent their own agendas instead of the will of the people, I can support a candidate from a party that has an agenda that is aligned with the true will of the people. Please offer your comments after researching  the American Citizen Party and the candidate(s) they endorse.
