A Hero's Letter to Obama

Often times, I run across a rant from some American, who has come to realize what a serious mistake Americans made in electing a socialist community organizer to the highest elected office in the land.

But the following "open letter" to Barack Obama comes not from a disgruntled tax paying American, but from an American Patriot and War Hero, who gave three of his limbs to fight a war in Iraq, only to have over a decade of struggle be for naught.

I present to the Esteemed Readers of Fix America, the following letter from Senior Airman (Retired) Brian Kolfage.

"Senior Airman Brian Kolfage is a United States hero.  He is a triple-amputee veteran of the War in Iraq who has surpassed all odds and made the most incredible recovery of any veteran to ever survive his injuries.  He is a patriot – the kind of man you want your son to grow up to be.  This is his letter to Obama on Presidents Day.

I nearly died in a war that you and most of your colleagues supported overwhelmingly, including the two presidents who came before you. Many citizens may not agree with waging war in Iraq to free the oppressed Iraqi citizens, but it’s something that warriors like myself have zero control over. I joined to serve my country and to better my life. I’ve seen things that you could never imagine, and they have made me the person I am today.

Mr. Obama, even though we share extreme opposite views, we have one thing in common, we both attended school in Hawaii. However, that’s where the similarities end. You see, as you attended your exclusive, private school, I would ride my bike to Kaimuki High school in one of the roughest areas in Hawaii every morning and would ride past Punahou, the exclusive privateschool you attended. I would notice the Bentleys, Maserati’s, and fancy foreign cars that all the kids were dropped off in; wow it must have been extremely rough in Hawaii living that life, right? I could only imagine what it was like to have that kind of money. Fortunately for you, not many people are aware of the school and the upper class citizens who attended it. The tuition to attend your exclusive, private school was more than it cost me to obtain a Bachelor’s degree inArchitecture from the University of Arizona. You talk a big game when it comes to financialinequality, yet I’m quite sure you have no idea what it’s truly like to have sacrifice. You were one of the elitist children in Hawaii.

After High School, we each chose very different paths. You were able to attend Ivy League schools, and I sought out a military career to in hopes of earning a degree. What we have in life as children usually sets the tone for what we will face later in life that will make us successful. I worked to get where I am today, and YOU WERE HANDED IT….Mr. Inequality.

I volunteered to go to Iraq on both of my deployments, and the second time I begged to go even after I wasn’t selected, which ultimately got me placed on the team where I would lose both legs and my dominant arm. I’ve never asked myself was losing 3 limbs in a war worth it, even though many Americans were against it.

I am frequently reminded of the many young Iraqi children who would beg me for water, food, and toys while I was stationed in Iraq. Children, who in all aspects made the poorest of poor American children look rich. You have no idea what it really means to be poor. It’s laughable that you, who would have no idea what it means to be poor would so frequently play the inequality card.

While I was in Iraq, our mission was to liberate the Iraqi citizens from a tyrant and that’s what we did. Never forget, it was your people who sent us there, like the Clintons, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi & Carl Levin. However, since the day you busted onto the scene you’ve been talking about ending the war and pulling the troops out, not understanding the blood sweat and tears that so many Americans and Iraqi’s invested. And with complete disregard for every life sacrificed, every limb lost, and every broken family, you bailed on our mission to pursue an agenda that was completely centered on your re-election in 2012. If you didn’t bail on Iraq you were worried that you may not get re-elected and that’s a fact. Just before elections on Oct 11, 2012 you said “Al Qaeda is on the run and Osama bin Laden is dead.” Look at Iraq now, they are in shambles and the Al Qaeda flag is flying freely. Clearly, you’re unfit for duty as a Commander in Chief. You put your own agenda ahead of America’s agenda, and now you have single handedly ruined and destroyed nearly everything we gained in Iraq. It clearly means nothing to you, because the only thing that you’ve personally invested in that country was a promise to bail on them. However, people like me gave limbs, friends have died, and we’ve watched families destroyed by war’s aftermath.

I’m not placing blame on you for the war, I’m placing blame on you for destroying what we’ve worked so hard to build. You’re not a leader, you’re a community organizer. A leader would have stood up regardless of the situation and put America’s agenda first and that is ensuring a secure Iraq even after 10 years of war. But, you placed Barack first, just as Robert Gates confirmed in his new book. I can’t help but think of those poor kids who I gave water and toys to 11 years ago. They’re probably 15 or 16 years old now, and I can only imagine what it’s like for them to have their nation being torn apart yet again; all because of your poor leadership qualities. Regardless of why we went to Iraq, its water under the bridge. We went there, we waged war, and we not only owed it to our KIA’s but we owed it to the citizens of Iraq. We invaded their country and turned it upside down, and you bailed on them. You bailed on our soldiers and you’ve wasted every death and every limb, it’s all for nothing. And to make matters worse you blame others for your failures

You’re just another elitist rich thug who’s pretended to live the rough life growing up in the inner-city. You’re only worried about your own agenda and furthering your party instead of taking care of Americans. Your inability to be a leader at some of the most critical points has caused both of our wars to fail. You’ve been a joke to most of our veteran community and we have no faith in your ability to lead.

The Fall of a Nation

America is under attack and there are no defenses being provided by our government. In fact, the government is bringing the invasion to us by training and arming foreigners. Reports from anonymous Border Patrol agents indicate that among those who are invading our nation, are Islamic Jihadists who are being trained by DHS as 'soldiers' in case of 'civil unrest' in US cities. In other words, they will have no problem killing American civilians, including women and children. They are getting fed and clothed, and they are being sheltered and trained to kill Americans. Oh yes! This is happening right now while your attention is being drawn to what is going on in the Middle East and in Eastern Europe.

Thousands of lives and over a $1,000,000,000,000 US are lost. Tens of thousands more US troops are maimed by the atrocities of terrorists claiming to represent the 'Religion of Peace.' And like Nero who fiddled while Rome burned, the person occupying the White House is campaigning and golfing while Baghdad is about to fall. And this just in:  The ISIS terrorists found chemical weapons belonging to the Iraqi Army and manufactured no doubt in the United States.  The very same weapons that for years, the Democrats in Washington have denied existed.



The border with Mexico is now controlled by the Mexican drug lords, while U.S. Border Patrol Agents have been reassigned to babysitting and nursemaid duties. And instead of doing their constitutional duty to call up the citizen soldiers to defend their states, the Governors of Arizona and Texas are doing nothing. Calls are going out for militia support by the communities being threatened, and some unconfirmed reports of American casualties have been coming forth as well.

Congress has not protected the People who elected them and instead are looking at how to help Afghanistan and Iraq. Directly negotiating with terrorists and exchanging five high-ranking Taliban 'generals' for one deserter and possible enemy collaborator, arming terrorists with American weapons to overthrow the governments of Egypt. Libya, and now Iraq, while training illegal immigrants on US soil to fight us. And now bringing back a Libyan national who claims no direct responsibility for the American live lost nor any remorse, to the States for criminal prosecution instead of being tried as an enemy combatant in a military court. He is a terrorist just like the ones exchanged for the deserter Bowe Bergdahl.

Impeachment was the answer for merely breaking the law, but Congress has not acted. Indictments need to be served to many members of this criminal regime yet Congress does nothing. I cannot understand why the Republican led House of Representatives has not acted on Articles of Impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors. I have heard an excuse making the rounds claiming that it is an exercise in futility so long as Harry Reid and the Democrats control the Senate. That is not a valid reason to not live up to your oaths of office and do the right thing under the Constitution. Unless you have broken that oath and no longer represent We the People.

As was emphatically stated in the Declaration of Independence two hundred and thirty eight years ago,

 "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

It seems irrefutable that our government no longer represents the will of the People and definitely is operating without the consent of the governed who are We the People.

Because of the immediate danger of this unabated invasion, we must act now to secure the border ourselves and deal with restoring the constitutional republic once we can save our lands from invasion.

What Tomorrow Will Bring: A Tirade: Afterthoughts and Words Part 4

It should be obvious, from information contained in past articles, that I am no longer young...and yet broken and disheartened, I shall do everything in my domain to warn my fellow man, my countrymen, of what I perceive to be a clear and present danger, and if that eventuality should come to be, I shall give my all to defend and protect my countrymen, their posterity, and all that they hold honorable and true, regardless of any cost perceived or not. If for whatever reason, I am not afforded that obligation it will not have been my decision. Of the hundreds, I knew personally, that enjoined that 'path of peace' none remain. I truly feel alone, yet hopeful.

We have seen in this second half of the twentieth century great advances in technology which have impacted every aspect of modern life. Ironically, though we are living in the "age of communication", it often seems as if we have less time now to talk or listen. For most, modern conveniences haven't gotten them off the treadmill; they have only made the treadmill go faster.

Quietly, yet rapidly, the small town values of community and common purpose are vanishing. Instead of strength in numbers, we as a nation are increasingly being split into smaller and smaller competing factions, with the cry of "every man for himself" ringing through the land. It seems that the phrase, "divide and conquer" has taken the place of, "One nation under God indivisible, with truth and justice for all." Americans are retreating behind the locked doors of their individual homes, afraid to enjoy the sunset for fear of the darkness it brings.

When and where did it all begin to crumble? How and why has America, which once was a nation whose strength united was so much more than the sum of its total parts, begin to break apart into bitterly opposing special interest groups? What will this frightening pattern of disintegration mean to the future of America and of those who live within her shores? Let it be remembered, and remembered well, the words of the Holy Bible:

"a house divided against itself cannot stand."

And let us not flinch from facing the truth that we have become a nation desperately divided.

With the long legacy of pride, determination, and strength in unity, how has it now come to this, that we are fighting ourselves? Finally, and most vitally important of all, what can we do to turn the tide before the values and opportunities which others before us fought and died to preserve are washed away in the flood to come?

What you are about to see is the result of years of painstaking and meticulous research on the part of dedicated Americans gravely concerned for this nation's future. Please listen closely and give your undivided attention to this presentation, for our future as individuals and free citizens of this mighty land depends upon it."

My Reply to Senator Merkley

I received this letter as a reply to my concern that Senator Merkley was in favor of restrictions on arms/magazine capacities, and demanding that he vote against any such unconstitutional infringements now and in the future. Apparently the Senator does not represent We the People of Oregon, but an ideology that he feels is more justified than the will of those he was elected to represent.

"Dear Fred,

Thank you for contacting me to express your views on legislation to reduce gun violence. As Oregonians, we have experienced more than enough gun violence and this issue hits close to home for many of us. And yet many Oregonians cherish their guns and want to ensure that they continue to have the right to use them safely. I appreciate knowing the thoughts of Oregonians on all sides of this complex issue. 

As you probably know, the Senate recently debated the Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act (S.649), a bill that I have supported as a strong effort to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and reduce gun violence without impinging on the Second Amendment. The bill's main thrust is to close loopholes in the background check system, including the gun-show loophole. Oregon closed the gun-show loophole years ago, so this is consistent with choices we have made. I believe strongly that the most basic protection we can provide is to do a better job keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and people with serious mental illnesses who may pose a threat to themselves and others. The bill also includes provisions strengthening criminal penalties for people who conduct "straw purchases" on behalf of others in order to evade background checks.

During the debate of the bill, the Senate also considered amendments on a number of other provisions. I supported restrictions on large ammunition magazines, which are not needed for hunting or target shooting, but have been used in many mass shootings, and on military-style assault weapons. I also voted in favor of a bipartisan amendment to improve the mental health system and an amendment by Senator Barrasso (R-WY) to stop states from publicly disclosing personal information about people with gun permits.

I recognize that Oregonians come down in very different places on some of these policy choices. I come from rural Oregon and recognize the importance of hunting, target shooting, and gun collecting in many communities. I am committed to protecting the constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to own guns. As a parent and a policymaker, I also feel a strong responsibility to take meaningful action to reduce the gun deaths and injuries that plague our country and to keep kids safe.   We need to do what we can to prevent the horror of Newtown and Clackamas Town Center and so many other tragedies from happening again. I believe S. 649 meets both of those priorities.

Work on the bill was suspended after it became clear that it lacked the supermajority of 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. If the Senate returns to this topic, I will certainly keep your views in mind. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.

Dear Jeffrey,

It is interesting how you view the Second Amendment, with hunting, target shooting, and gun collecting as your basis for endorsing legislation that does absolutely nothing to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals, but does much to infringe upon the rights of the People.

Perhaps you need to read the Constitution Jeff. Does this look familiar? "The right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." It says nothing about 'law-abiding citizens'  nor mentions hunting, target shooting, or gun collecting. In fact, it does not make exceptions for 'assault weapons' or 'high capacity' magazines. So where do you get the idea that laws for registration or capacity limits protect the 'constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens'? Is that to the exclusion of constitutional rights for everyone else? In fact what it does say is that you Mr. Senator, have no damn authority to pass ANY laws that prohibit or restrict arms of any type for any reason whatsoever.

Personally, if I could afford to own and maintain heavy artillery, I would do so, and it is NOT the province of government to tell me what I can and cannot own. Do you recall a fracas back in 1776 regarding government getting a bit too intrusive in the lives of the People?

Justify your unconstitutional and treasonous position with somebody who sympathizes with that rhetoric, because liberty loving patriotic Americans certainly don't!

The Meaning of Liberty

In the past several months I have written about liberty and rights. I have used both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as evidence of the commitment to liberty our founders made. But I cannot do the subject as much justice, nor can I offer the level of inspiration and motivation that I discovered in this short video with the late Paul Harvey.

In this monologue, Mr. Harvey explains the agenda of  the founders in a way that is contrary to those that I have learned in school or discovered for myself at the library in documentary texts or film.



I trust you will share this with others. We must all know and understand the real sacrifices made to bring this nation into being. It is most relevant that we learn from the past and know what is necessary to restore liberty while it is still possible to accomplish that goal through the ballot box.

But we also must remain vigilant and prepared to fight for our freedom in whatever manner circumstance may dictate.

A Tribute to Martin Luther King

History will show that Dr. King was pioneer of equal rights but few will see him in the context that portrays him as a true Statesman. He was first and foremost a clergyman, a man well versed in the Christian faith.

Some will call him an activist although he was much more than that. Dr. King was a rebel, an insurgent who dared face down the establishment that kept race an issue and a nation divided.

A man who won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of thirty five he was the youngest winner ever. But he was a man of peace in the same way that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were. He was for peaceful civil disobedience to laws that were unjust to any free individual as was all Americans as their birthright. He was a true patriot to country and a rebel against tyranny.

While much of the nation is focused on Obama's second Inauguration, and the second time he as taken an oath of office and lied to  us all, I will pay tribute to the memory of a man who stood up against a tyranny and gave his life in revolt against the system that allowed and even condoned the inequality in rights and freedom expressively given to all humanity by their Creator.

God bless you Dr. King. May your memory inspire others to stand with courage for the rights of all people.

Sandy Hook vs. End of the World

Blessings and prayers to those lost and those who mourn.

I was going to write a short post about the end of the world, just as I did many years ago with the Y2K disaster predictions, but now that I seem to be getting all of these emails and posts ob Facebook regarding the shootings that killed so many children and adults in Connecticut last week, it seems that I must address this issue from my own unique perspective.

It is always a tragedy when human life is lost seemingly without any sense at all. Whether it be a lone gunman or a suicide bomber, the death and destruction remains senseless.

The knee-jerk reaction to Sandy Hook was the push for banning guns. An obvious rebuttal to that is this: Had teachers in that school had been trained and armed, the tragedy would have been lessened if not avoided. Blaming guns on the senseless murders is no different than blaming pencils for failing tests. Most people don't see the analogy as more  tongue-in-cheek quip, but it is nonetheless an accurate assessment.

Some insisted on having so-called assault weapons banned, since there was no 'use for them' for hunting, and the very nature of these weapons were designed for combat. That being so, it is still in violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. The right to own and bear arms was not limited to flintlocks and muskets. The very purpose of that right was to arm the citizens and protect them through the right to form militias against any aggression from forces including a tyrannic government.

The very purpose of the Constitution itself was to limit the government, not the People. In the course of American history however, many laws have been enacted that were to benefit the people although they also violated constitutional limits and individual rights. Even today many feel that it is a necessary evil because they have become dependent of a government that gives them benefits at the cost of their own liberties and the burden of taxes on others. Most liberals call it paying their fair share, which as wards of the state, they themselves pay nothing.

The world did not end as many thought it would, based on the incorrect interpretations of a perpetual Mayan calendar. So now we all must go forward and face the realities of a world that is systematically becoming a totalitarian global corporate state, where rights are replaced with privileges and liberty is nothing more than a dream of patriots.
